These are some pictures I took when we went to LA last week. I took them out the car window as we were driving down the freeway. There were a lot of cool old bridges. There was also a lot of graffiti. I think LA should be renamed Graffiti Town! I wanted to take a picture of the Hollywood sign, but it was too small for my camera to pick up.

Outside my house, in California, I videotaped a fire and took some pictures, and I would like you to see them. I was coming out to the kitchen for a snack and what drew my attention, was a loud roar. I went to the window and there was a gimongous smoke cloud rising. Then I got my camera and started taking some pictures. I started seeing dozens of airplanes and helicopters going around. At the same time you could hear sirens from all around. I wanted to be the first one to do my own live at-home, eye-in-the-sky, KYNZ channel 1812, at Matthew’s house live broadcast. I hope you look at these pictures.

I wrote this on Tuesday. The fire is all out now. But here are the pictures.

I got my own camera! I am going to be entering these as a photo collection for my homeschool spring expo.

It was the seventh mission built in California. Mission San Juan Capistrano is full of flowers and fountains. Mission San Juan Capistrano has six bells. Four of the original mission bells are still rang today, everyday. Two of the six original bells are on display. The two bells that are on display were in the bell tower of The Great Stone Church. The Great Stone church made out of stone with seven humoungous domes. It took nine years to build. The master stonemason died six years into the project. It was supposed to have six domes. Without the boss, the workers’ calculations weren’t correct, so they added a seventh dome. In the middle of a mass, there was a massive earthquake in 1812 that destroyed the whole church. Only one dome is still standing today. Forty people died that day. They are buried in the cemetary at the mission.

It was founded twice due to an Indian attack at a nearby mission. They buried the four bells to protect them. In 1776, Father Junipero Serra went back a year later and found that the bells were still safe. They hung the bells from a tree and the mission was reopened.

The coolest things I saw there were the Sacred Garden, the kitchen for the Fathers, the bedroom for the Fathers, and the soldiers’ barracks and guns.

Spring is fun, fun, fun. I like spring because all of the flowers bud. I like spring so much because the birds come out. We have been doing lots of stuff outside. We planted plants: watermelon, cantaloupe, flowers. I took a picture of this petunia in my backyard. I took the camera and stuck it down flower.

This is bird food in an elaborate bird feeder. (It is a little blurry). At 2:00, on Thursday, March 15, 2007, we saw a bird and we didn’t scare it. Spring is cool. It is my favorite season.
